Want to go on a field trip with us?

We recently went on a mini field trip, as opposed to a camping trip, out into the delta region in search of sandhill cranes. Rev Sally belongs to one of the local Northern California birding groups on FB and saw that these birds were being spotted on their migrations south already in the delta region. So, we packed up a light snack, water, and our binoculars and went in search of the area. We found the Cosumnes River Preserve off I5 and wandered about their hiking trails. There were many other nature lovers and birders out that day. Fortunately, we also spotted some cranes flying overhead and were pointed into the direction of the boardwalk where we could (possibly) see some on the ground foraging for food.

We may not be heading out on a camping trip anytime soon, so we’d love to gather a group and go out to this nature preserve together. The hiking trails are well maintained, safe and flat. If you might be interested in joining us for a field trip on October 8th. We’ll be heading out there early in the morning. See you there!
