Summer 2022 Mini-Trip

Dave and I decided to take an unplanned mini road trip to Denver and South Texas to visit two of our three girls. Wanting something a bit different than the same old route across the country from CA, we decided to head east via Hwy 50 – The Loneliest Road in America. Good choice!

7-10-2022 and Gracie’s odometer registered 56,455.9 miles to date. We’re on the road again! Life loves and adventure.

We got on to Hwy 50 at Fernley NV and have been on it since. Our first night out we found a really sweet spot to camp at the Hickison Petroglyph Recreation Area. I’m not sure I have ever had a more quiet night in a camp ground. There were only three other campers in the park. The moon was so bright and beautiful. Driving through Austin NV, we literally drove over hundreds, if not thousands, of giant grasshoppers that were swarming all over the road. There were some in the park too, so we got a better look at them. Of course, Jackson loved chasing after them.

As we watched the sunset and winded down for the evening, the common nighthawks put on a show just for us. Life in the wild is fabulous to simply watch.

We stopped for a break today at the Great Basin National Park near Baker, NV. The campgrounds there were full and required reservations ahead of time, so we kept driving. Tonight, we camped in the Antelope RV park in Delta UT.

I am always amazed at just how beautiful and diverse this country is, as they say in the Great Basin literature, we’ve gone from an ocean of sage brush to alpine woodlands and high desert scenery in just a few hundred miles. Life is Good. Life is Beauty. Life is Peace. Life is Love.

Blessed Be!
